A textbook scholarship award of $500 to be spent on textbooks for a former student of
the Newington Public School
All applicants must have spent three years, minimum, as a student at the Newington Public
School, be a senior in high school and plan on continuing their education at a 2 or 4 year
school, college or university. Applicants for the award must write an essay describing their
most memorable moments and the positive effects the Newington Public School had on their school
years and/or growing up. Applicants should also submit a copy of artwork that can be reproduced
on a T-shirt for the primary fundraiser of the Newington School Supporters, the Fox Point Sunset
Road Race. Winner will be chosen based on merit and content of the essay. Correct grammar,
punctuation and good writing also counts. The winning essay will receive a Textbook Scholarship
in the amount of $500.

Applicant should fill out the attached application and attach their essay and copy or
description of their artwork.

We would like a piece of your own artwork (or photo/digital image of a
3-dimensional piece) from your school days. This is not an art contest, so this artwork
can be from elementary, middle or high school. Have it be one of your favorites that would be
fitting for the front of a t-shirt. This can be submitted with your essay or afterwards. A
copy of the winning essay, corresponding artwork and a photo of the award winner will be
posted on our website.
